Mayor's Select Committee on Crime & Violence

In 2012, Mayor Michael Cherepko pooled the city's resources to develop the Select Committee on Crime and Violence (SCCV).

About

The SCCV is responsible for focusing city resources, including existing programs and new tools, on addressing the problems of crime and violence. Members have sought grants and other funding for initiatives that provide McKeesport's youth and adult populations with positive life experiences.

Mission

The city is committed to renewing opportunities for economic development, social change, health and wellness initiatives, educational excellence, quality of life, and faith-based collaborations. Mayor Cherepko hopes to develop new ventures while linking McKeesport's diverse population with existing businesses, services and programs that meet the community's cultural, social, medical, educational, safety and spiritual needs.
From the Select Committee on Crime and Violence grew the McKeesport Message Committee.
